Carers in Southampton is a project funded by Southampton City Council in partnership with the NHS, Carers in Southampton is launching a new discount card to recognise the work of the estimated 36,000 unpaid informal carers across the city, On Carers Rights Day, Friday 25 November, As well as a means of identification, it offers discounts and informs emergency services that the holder has care responsibilities.
Phil Lee, Project Manager for Carers in Southampton, said “The Carers’ Card has come about as a direct result of unpaid carers asking us for it; many carers feel disenfranchised from the community and not recognised for the work they do.
“The Carers’ Card offers discounts on local and national goods and services. We are working hard to get even more companies on board to provide discounts. I would encourage businesses to come forward with offers. It is a great opportunity for them to promote their business and is a rewarding, innovative approach to demonstrate corporate social responsibility. Read more…
